Our resident Northern Shrike reflects on Longfellow from the top of Socrates head.

Nice shot! Now we have two reasons for referring to this bird as "the Longfellow shrike."

The statue is "Longfellow dressed as Socrates."
I'm sure there's story behind that, but I'm not sure what it is.
I know the story about how his broken off hands were returned after six years tho. Maybe another blog post...
The birds like him a lot, I've seen bluebirds, swallows, crows, and now the shrike.
