The statue is "Longfellow dressed as Socrates." I'm sure there's story behind that, but I'm not sure what it is. I know the story about how his broken off hands were returned after six years tho. Maybe another blog post... The birds like him a lot, I've seen bluebirds, swallows, crows, and now the shrike.
